Welcome This Year's Student Lead Team

posted Jan 15, 2013, 2:43 PM by Ginger Bowman
Students from BSMs and churches around the state started 2013 by gathering as this year's Student Lead Team.  Seventy students participated in a 3 day leadership experience at Baylor University/Truett Seminary that began their term of service on the team.  Students spent time in Bible study, leadership training and planning for the upcoming year.  Got some great student leaders?  Look for more information this fall about nominating students for the 2014 team.
 Lead Team plans Abide
A portion of their time was spent planning the prayer stations for the Abide Retreat coming up January 25-26 at Highland Lakes Camp and Conference Center near Austin.  This year's theme for Abide comes from Romans 12:12, "Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer."  Students planned prayer stations around this theme to lead college students and leaders in worship and in praying for Texas campuses, the nations and a host of other needs.  Click here for more information about Abide.
"Bridge the Gap" opportunity
Lead Team members sign up to serve in a variety of leadership opportunities throughout the year.  Students can serve as leaders for Super Summer camps, contribute to the TexasFreshman.com website, and represent Texas Baptist Collegiate Ministry in a variety of venues.  This year students have the oppportunity to serve as a "Bridge the Gap" local church contact.  These students will be available to local churches to speak to youth groups, and lead discussions that share about planning for spiritual life after high school.  Also, by providing information about Texas BSM
and texasfreshman.com to high school junior and seniors, these students will help incoming college freshmen connect to Baptist Student Ministries and churches where they attend school.
